Coronavirus infection is a pandemic which is gripping people regardless of their nationalities, region, ethnicities, etc. so today we all stand at a risk of this viral infection that has taken the world by storm. As citizens of the world, we all are under obligation to take necessary steps to reduce the proliferation of this infection.

Coronavirus tips: How to slow the spread of COVID-19 with hand-washing, social distance

Mentioned below are some of precautions that a driver on road should take in order to minimize this risk of coronavirus infection:

Wash hands regularly– It is imperative to wash hands with a good anti-bacterial soap at regular intervals so that the virus does not get a chance to grow. Prevention is the first step towards protection. Carry a sanitizer wherever you go so that if you cannot wash your hands you can at least sanitize the same.

Avoid handshakes- Truck drivers get to meet several people during the course of their journey. They should avoid handshakes and greet people from a distance. This will limit their physical contact and as a result the chances of spread of disease will be limited. Avoid contact with people who come from high danger zone areas.

Cough on the sleeve- Coronavirus spreads when infected droplets fall on the other person. So if at all you are coughing, you should do it on your sleeve as this is the area that you will touch less. Stay away from areas where there  are too many people.

Transport things that are absolutely necessary- Transportation should be carried out for things that are absolutely necessary. Any useless movement should be curtailed so that there is less traffic on the roads.

Do not go to work in case you feel the symptoms- If you feel that you have some symptoms it is prudent to immediately inform the health authorities and get yourself checked. It is prudent to be careful and not ignore the symptoms as this can lead to serious outcomes for other people as well. Self – quarantine should be the first step that you should take.

Sanitize the truck often- It is vital to sanitize both inside and outside of the truck. This will preclude chances of spreading of the virus.

Special Note:-

Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. Please consult with your health care provider about additional steps you may be able to take to protect yourself.

It is vital that everyone including truck drivers take necessary steps so that the disease gets contained. Even though there is no need no panic but we should take all vital steps so that the disease does not spread and take more lives.  These steps can mitigate the risk of more and more people getting infected. Elderly people and those with any kind of pre conditions are more at a risk. So, even if you are healthy you can be the carrier of disease and this can be a cause of big concern. While concerns and anxiety are currently running high, supply chain and logistics have seen its fair share of hurdles and challenges and made it through to the other side. Here is to hoping this will end up being another one of those times.

The novel coronavirus is scary but with necessary precautions mortality rate can be controlled. It is prudent to be careful than to be sorry later on.
